Dr. David Butler

Dr. David Butler is a board certified Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons in Canada. He is a member of the UBC teaching faculty and practices Ophthalmology with a special interest in cataract surgery and intraocular lens design. 

 

Dr. Butler attended Saint Francis Xavier University as well as Dalhousie University for undergraduate education. He graduated with a medical degree from Dalhousie University and was the chief emergency room physician at the Belleville hospital in Ontario. He then came to the University of British Columbia where he specialized in Ophthalmology. He completed a fellowship in orbital disease and pathology at UBC. He maintains numerous professional memberships in Canada, The United States, Europe and Asia.


He has held numerous positions with the BC Eye Physicians & Surgeons including past president. He has served as Head of Department of Surgery and Ophthalmology Division Head at Richmond Hospital. Presently he has active staff privileges at St. Paul's and Mount Saint Joseph's hospitals with consulting privileges at Vancouver General and Richmond hospitals.
